Fresh work arriving soon!

I'm excited about some of the new works that have just arrived and some that are on their way! I haven't seen the gallery this full in a while! The variety of art we have on hand is amazing, even to me! In the case of art I have to say less is NOT more! Sorry Mies Van Der Rohe!

Here are a few images of some of the pieces we have just received and some that are on their way. Maybe they will tempt you into coming into our Minneapolis Gallery to take a look.

Enjoy!

"Imaginary Cowboy...the art of the West"

Our upcoming show at the Galleria location is something you don't want to miss!

Art Resources Gallery in Edina Minnesota features

“Imaginary Cowboy… the art of the West”

Jun 2nd- June 27th

Inspired by John Nieto’s 60” X 48” “Jackson Sundown”, Art Resources Gallery is exhibiting Western and Native American themed paintings for the month of June.

We are privileged to be exhibiting this American master’s original, and it set the creative wheels in motion to show amazing Western themed paintings by other artists.

Aside from “Jackson Sundown”, other Fauvist inspired contemporary paintings will include the amazing “Cow on Red” by Rensley, and a brightly colored stallion by local artist Jeff Boutin. Moving toward the traditional, we are featuring Alpine Lake by Arizona artist John Horejs, and the visionary landscapes of the Old West by American master Ernest Chiriacka. Chiriacka, best known as one of the leading magazine illustrators, concentrated after retirement on his landscapes and is collected by individuals and fine art galleries around the world. He died on April 26, 2010 at the age of ninety-six.

Ernest Chiriacka 1913-2010

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of one of the artists that will be featured in the show, Ernest Chiriacka. I feel the gallery is very privileged to carry the artwork of this amazing artist. He had quite an extraordinary life and was able to make a living doing something he loved. Chriacka came from an era where artwork done for magazines was actually done by hand, not on a computer. He did many pieces for Esquire and the Saturday Evening Post to name a few. His artwork from the 1950’s and early 1960’s evokes a feeling of glamour and style. In his later work, he was focused on the Native Americans plight after the Sioux Indian uprising at Wounded Knee in 1973. It is in these paintings you get a sense of the pride the Native Americans had for their culture and people.

I would urge you to see some of the paintings we have left at the upcoming show. They are truly amazing.

Sincerely,

Janella Fesenmaier

New Altobell Sculptures have arrived!

I'm to excited about the new Judith Altobell sculptures that have just been brought into the gallery. We unveiled them on Friday afternoon and I have to say they are amazing! I would love to know where this artists goes in her mind when she is creating these special pieces. I always think there has got to be a story behind each one of them. The details on some are incredible...just take a look at the rabbit.

You'll have to forgive the quality of the photographs I took! I'm usually much better but these little dollies are hard to move around because of their weight.
They are all at our Minneapolis/IMS gallery right now so come in to see them.

I should also mention we just received a nice shipment of Randy Hibberd and Lisa Ridgers pieces on paper that are wonderful! If you check out our web-site you can see some examples of their work if you are not familiar with them.

Best wishes,
Janella Fesenmaier

Art Resources Gallery Edina has a new Inspiration room

Our Galleria location has just completed a fresh and new inspiration room with the help of Gabberts designer Duane Waltzer.

Here is what Beverly Bishop has to say about this fun new space...

Art for Inspiration Room, Feb 2010: “Liberace Meets Versace”

As many of you know, Art Resources Gallery and Gabberts’ designers have been collaborating on creating exciting new spaces in our gallery with paintings, sculpture and furniture. Our latest innovation was designed by senior designer Duane Waltzer and myself.

The genesis of this “room” began with my vision of a large, colorful abstracted heart. I approached artist Jeff Boutin with my idea and he came up with a very commanding 48” X 48” painting. From that starting point, I showed Jeff’s Heart to Duane and asked him if he would like to design a room for us that used this painting as a focal point. He loved it and said he knew just the thing. He brought in blue leather chairs, a shiny red table, a candlebra, a chandelier – and we set to work.

With Valentines Day right around the corner our room is both Baroque and romantic. Duane calls it a little”Liberace meets Versace”. For both of us, color and texture was key – primary, bright, true colors. We both leaned more toward the eclectic and artistic rather than the functional. Duane loves to layer art in unexpected ways. Big chunky frames on little paintings, etc.

We couldn’t be more pleased. The reaction by passersby and regular clients is very positive. In these difficult times we all need a little more color, whimsy and fun – you can’t help but smile when you look at all the eclectic pieces that work so nicely together. Our photos show the results.

New Art

I have been very busy bringing in new artwork these days. There are many new pieces on paper and canvas in the gallery right now. Some of the pieces are by local artists and others are by regional favorites. Our canvas racks are spilling over with fresh new pieces. If you get a chance, come in to take a peek!

The gallery has also introduced some beautiful new mouldings for custom framing. There are probably close to 75 new mouldings on our walls! When I were unpacking them it was hard to pick what my new favorites would be! Frames are like fine jewelry to me. Frames can dress something up, make it funky, sophisticated, rustic or classic. I love framing as much as I love art.

The Galleria location will have some great shows coming up. I'll post the information when I get the details.

Stay warm,

Janella
